My Mrs removed the window covering yesterday morning - it was on the outside and had been battered by the wind - as I can't reach the window from the inside at present !!
Lemmy the Blue Tit was back and headbanging on the window within 5 minutes
I've left him to it now.
Trouble is the aggressive little sod is chasing all other tits off. A Great Tit was investigating one of my nest boxes this morning until Lemmy pounced.

We have a camera in a bird box at work and over the last few weeks it's been visited by what we think is a 'pair' of blue tits. However, after waiting ages for nest building to begin their behaviour is very strange.
The box had sawdust in at first and they clearly don't like that because they emptied it out completely leaving the nest box spotless inside. Then small amounts of nest material started to appear, but each morning it had been emptied overnight by one of the birds.
Finally, what looked like a decent nest was taking shape with a lot more material brought in only for it all to be emptied out again by one of the 'pair'. So we're currently viewing an empty nest box once again!
We started to think that these birds may not be a pair but rivals each competing for the nest space. Either that or a very fussy bird which just isn't satisfied with their partner's work - now where've I heard that before?
Is this common behaviour? I know birds sometimes have a couple of nests on the go before picking one of them.
Well it's still merrily bouncing off the window of the shed.
4 whole days now
If you sellotape some paper to the inside of the window it will no longer see its reflection, think it's seen off the rival and get on with its life.
Cheers, John
Cover the window with something first. Something it won't be able to see it's reflection in (old sheet, selotaped bin bag etc) and see if it still does it.
I know this thread is about Blue Tits, however i mentioned on the site a couple of weeks ago about a pair of Long Tailed Tits that had taken to landing on our patio door handles. 2 or 3 weeks down the line and they're still at it. Most days they will fly from the back of the garden straight into the window. They don't seem to hurt themselves but keep flying around the window pecking at the glass and taking a rest on the handles. They do the same with the kitchen windows. It's quite funny using the kitchen and hearing one of them tapping away at the window as if it wants to be let in. Mind you it's making a mess of the glass.
No it's a big shed at the bottom of the garden and this Blue Tit has spent the last 2 days trying to get under the eaves and bounce off the window according to my Mrs.
It's certainly persistant !!
