Morecambe Promenade


9.30 - 13.30

Mainly watching from the end of Trafalgar point.

Great skua flew past the point heading South.

245 Eider duck

42 Great crested grebes

6 Cormorants 

13 Shelduck

150+ Turnstone, all but 10 flying past the point.

200+ Sanderling mainly in one large flock on the sand.

32 Curlew 

Peregrine over the sea

1000+ Redshank

1000+ Oystercatchers

10.30-14.00

Two hours Sea watch from Trafalgar Point on a outgoing tide then along the promenade.

1000+ Redshank,

1000+ Oystercatcher,

1000+ Dunlin

126 Ringed plover,

2 possible Grey plover,

18 Turnstone,

29 Curlew,

6 Goldeneye,

233 Eider duck,

131 Shelduck,

4 Lapwing,

21 Great Black-backed gulls,

4 Tufted duck,

22 Cormorant,

Peregrine after a Redshank,

6 Pied wagtails on the seaweed,

Also two diver species flew past the point quite far out and a pipit species on the rocks, not sure of the id.

Really good views of the 'winter waders' along the prom included -Knot, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Turnstone, Redshank, Curlew, Grey Plover, and Lapwing

Great crested Grebes, Goldeneye, Red breasted merganser on the sea along with some impressive flocks of eider
