Today around midday; a pair of Goosander were the highlight with supporting cast of;
Mute Swan 6
Coot 7
Canada Geese 40
Great Crested Grebe 5
Mallard 3
Mute Swan 6
Cormorant 1
Black-headed Gull 250
Lesser Black-backed Gull 2
Herring Gull 2

Also in the area was a Great Spotted Woodpecker and party of Blue, Great, Coal and Long-tailed Tit.

Yesterday (1900) - pair of Great Crested Grebe displaying here. Today (1300) - no signs of any grebe, 30 Canada Goose, 17 Mute Swan, 2 Coot, 4 Mallard, 8 BH Gull, 1 Feral Goose, 6 Feral Duck, 1 Muscovey.

Yes, all looked fine. I'll try and visit again at weekend. Swans at Salford Quays seen today were all ok. I'll let you know if any issues from either location.

Did all the swans look OK, Nick? (having said that it's a regular site for pollution). The symptoms of this infection are lassitude and disinterest in food.

Mute Swan = 17, Canada Goose = 20, Muscovey Duck = 1, Feral Duck = 7, Mallard = 6, BH Gull = 60, Common Gull = 2, LBB Gull = 1, Cormorant = 1, Coot = 6, Feral Goose = 1.

Of the 7 Swans who's rings were noted none were TBY (see Worsley Woods thread)

Popular haunt for the local Mute Swans, currently has the only bit of open water on the canal for some distance;

18 Mutes with Canada's, Mallard, Coot, BH Gull, Common Gull, 8 Tufties, 1 feral goose, 1 Muscovey and half a dozen duck of dubious ancestry !
