Greenfinch on the Niger seed feeder this morning! I know that is not big news but they disappeared suddenly from Crankwood, about 5/6 years ago. However I saw one calling high in the poplar trees at the back of the house on Thursday, and this morning on the feeder. So, I'm hoping they are making a comeback.

25+ Whooper Swans low over Freds farm Saturday morning, 8:30am ish. Heading toward Pennington flash.

Cuckoo calling this morning at the back of the wood, from 5:15am, for about an hour.

Grasshopper Warbler
Chiffchaff
Reed Bunting, male and female, plus a lone male.
Whitethroat, one with white patches on it's grey head.
Buzzard
Goldfinch
Blue, Coal, Willow, LT, and Great Tit.
Nuthatch
And the first Cuckoo call of this year!

Two female Lesser Redpoll, and a female Brambling in the garden today. Attracted, I assume by the new niger seed feeder I put up yesterday. A garden first!

Greenfinch (up untill about 3 yrs ago, now not one)

Also along the east side of the wood is and area called the station. Where in summer you can reguarly see, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Willow warbler Chiffchaff and Cuckoo. And who knows with a trained eye maybe even more!

Lol, not very good at this!
Crankwood is on Crankwood Rd, Leigh. It's a privately owned, so you can't go in and walk around. However you can walk along about a third of it's lengh via the station.

I have recently returned to birding after twenty years away. So imagine my delight when I came accross this forum. Lot's of local infomation, maps and everything. Just what I needed to get me going again. Well done!
