I had meant to reply to this thread earlier but as usual, had forgotten!

Anyway, with regards your comments about it being interesting to note the spread of Buzzards over the area, the annual county bird reports does a very fine job of that indeed

The problem with individual species threads such as this is that I could probably quite easily have one for each species at this rate! If I see a Buzzard at Pennington Flash, do I put it in the site thread, species thread or both? I have encouraged particular species threads for specific reasons, such as the Pink-footed Geese and rooftop Lapwings. The ringed Dipper thread has quickly become a thread for all Dipper sightings and as such sometimes, the site threads suffer. Whilst it may naturally happen, it was not (nor necessarily is) the object of this forum to chart the status of county species but merely to publicise sightings for the benefit of their observers and indeed those with a vested interest for whatever reason. You are of course right that being able to visualise the spread of a species is indeed interesting but like I say, the county bird report does that job admirably

would nt it be interesting to sort of note the spread of buzzards over the area?


i saw 2 more. 1 about 2.15pm thursday 16 sept exting the trafford centre at junc 9 on my left hand side northward bound,

another one at 2.45 in rossendale but very close to GMC. off the a56 thursday 16 sept
