Storm-driven birds

This is the peak time for Manx Shearwaters to get blown into the county and sometimes they get grounded in strange places.
Shearwaters must ALWAYS be taken back to the coast and released by throwing them into the air as they can't take off from the ground (no cliffs on our part of the coast). They must not be released on local reservoirs. It's a job for the RSPCA really. Our local inspector Paul Heaton is on standby for any reports and will gladly collect birds from any address - contact me on 01942 712615/07970778024 and I can pass any messages direct to him (his private RSPCA mobile number cannot be given out generally)
