No problem with the link, it went straight to the video.

Watching it reminded me of how desolate the flash use to be before it was made into a country park of some distinction.

In 1975 I had a Saturday morning job at the Leigh Cat and Dogs home. In the afternoons after being savaged by the various animals that I had to clean out I cycled to the flash. It could be pretty grim at times, there was always someone shooting at the ducks, little Honda 50's were being ridden to destruction, sometimes the police turned up looking for a body which may have been washed up.

35 years later as I walked around Penny this week remembering how it used to be and admiring how the park is now. What a differencesmile.gif

there are other videos on there ,which show the flash-theres one from granada where some mining lads are hunting around the flash, not for the sqeemish,it was from the early 70s ,and that was just a way of life in leigh then for young lads, but you have to smile when they put sub titles underneath as the leythers are talking, because the producer could not understand a word they were sayingsmile.gif

Thanks, I'll have a look next time I'm in the cafe. My connection here is too slow.

Or go to Leighlife.com and follow the links to videos

you will hopefully be able to spot a young Dave Wilson, and even Younger Charlie Owen.
Its an HALF HOUR documentary on a former head ranger at the flash.
