new link worked fine for me? straight to the videos section
just watched the other video about the young lads with there ferets ont flash, yep JT you were right, not for the sqeamish
them lads were all well known characters around leigh,i knew them all.
No problem with the link, it went straight to the video.
Watching it reminded me of how desolate the flash use to be before it was made into a country park of some distinction.
In 1975 I had a Saturday morning job at the Leigh Cat and Dogs home. In the afternoons after being savaged by the various animals that I had to clean out I cycled to the flash. It could be pretty grim at times, there was always someone shooting at the ducks, little Honda 50's were being ridden to destruction, sometimes the police turned up looking for a body which may have been washed up.
35 years later as I walked around Penny this week remembering how it used to be and admiring how the park is now. What a difference
My experience too -all those questions about food defeated me.
don't know if for some reason your ending up on the wrong site, but I have been going on that site for 10 years and no issues everI have the main site www.leighlife.com in my favorites, then i browse from the forums on there
The Videos are here-copy and paste into your browser
I'd love to see the video, but have given up in exasperation trying to get into Leighlife.com. - it seems to me one has to jump through too many hoops, (and know what you cannot put into some local recipe, as some sort of eliminator).
-"Disappointed" of Durham.
No idea why you are having problems Mike in getting into leighlife .com,I go on daily and there are never any issues getting on,its a very well run site, and ive had about 30 e-mails from people who have watched it from my link,or by following the links at Leighlife.com,to the video section. I have just gone streight to the video 1st time to checkno problems at all

I've just watched the video from an Internet cafe in Saudi Arabia. For 25 minutes I was taken back to my roots (although I'm from Bolton) and came over all nostalgic. Thanks a lot for the link, I can't wait to get back in early August and have a mooch about again down at Penny Flash.
there are other videos on there ,which show the flash-theres one from granada where some mining lads are hunting around the flash, not for the sqeemish,it was from the early 70s ,and that was just a way of life in leigh then for young lads, but you have to smile when they put sub titles underneath as the leythers are talking, because the producer could not understand a word they were saying
Thanks, I'll have a look next time I'm in the cafe. My connection here is too slow.

Was that you John that Dave was on about doing a year list? Nice to see the place like it used to be.
No me and thee got that number every year-it was Patrick Baglee who was trying to catch us upby the way paul how many would our penny list be,as i can't remember what we sawand i can't be bothered going ointo the loft to find my old notebooks.
enjoyed that, strangely i remember watchin it back int day but Leigh was like an alien place to me, my patch was chorlton wp when it was just a pile of mud next to the landfill, used to get a pound a rats tail there.! Still 35year on both areas are totally different landscapes. thanks JT
Or go to Leighlife.com and follow the links to videos
you will hopefully be able to spot a young Dave Wilson, and even Younger Charlie Owen. Its an HALF HOUR documentary on a former head ranger at the flash.
