We found a just-fledged Little Owl, dead about 2 weeks, trapped in a duct at one of the farms we visited today. Sad, but at least it proves breeding there.

sad to report that a friend of mine found what i think is a female little owl (it has hardly any feathers on it's legs and belly) dead in a bucket of water the horses use to drink from.

she, if it is a she, appears to have a broken neck - am assuming she flew into something and landed in the bucket.

i have it in my freezer and will drop henry a line to see if he wants to make a skin from the carcass.

very sad. hoping the parent left behind can cope with their chicks...
