Just returned from a weeks stay at Glan Blyl camp site for a extended Osprey watch. The 2 chicks are both doing fine growing at a rapid rate father bringing plenty of food to the nest. One of the reasons this pair are so successful is they normally arrive back early get there act together and have chicks in the nest up to 5 weeks before any other UK Osprey hence 23 chicks in 9 years, the 1st year the nest was blown down in a big storm. The site is no longer open 7 days a week closed on a Monday and Friday RSPB cut backs, the local people are well on the way to getting sorted for next year here,s hoping some people will not be there much longer Good luck to you both you both no who you are many thanks for the last 9 years.

First visit this afternoon, great views of the Ospreys both on the nest and in flight around the nest , also a single Red Kite circling over the viewing area. Lots of Swallows and House Martins, plus a couple of Wheatear, Buzzard. Great site
Just returned from a weekend away at Glaslyn ,the sad news is it is almost certainly the last year the visitor center will be open, due to the fact the RSPB have withdrawn funding. The locals are trying to get something sorted out but funds are hard to come by,they are applying for funding but as yet have not heard anything. The site which has now been open for 9years now and was the 1st in Wales has been a big success thanks to the hard work but in by Geraint Williams and his team has been remarkable. At present there are 7 Ospreys in the Glaslyn area the original pair along with another pair and 2 males both on nest and both being visited by a single female, typical female cant decide what she wants Of the previous years chicks there are 2 females nesting at Keilder,1female nesting at Threave Castle Dumfries and breed for the last 2 years another has been seen in the Highlands of Scotland and a 5th chick has returned to Glaslyn, these birds are the only 1s id by rings at the moment. So if your in the area and feel like popping in say hello to the team ,be educated see the nest threw the scopes watch the live feed on the large screen and see some Ospreys this could be your last chance.
Up to 5 other Ospreys seen around the nest site this week.Good news from Keilder water that sum of the Osperys are Glaslyn birds, including the 1st bird to fledge 9 years ago
Both birds arrived back earl this week 10th year for this pair, nest building under way male bird fishing.A third bird has tried to get on to the nest but chased off still in valley
Sad news yesterday dosnt make any sense at all http://www.rspb.org.uk/news/318857-rspb-cymru-withdraws-from-the-glaslyn-osprey-project-near-porthmadog-please-scroll-down-for-welsh-version

Well done to the RSPB volunteers - warm & welcoming and very patience in helping those inexperienced at using scopes, particularly children. Also the enthusiasm and appropriate knowledge disseminated to a broad range of interests.
Very unusually (I was told this was the first since the camera was set up) but there was no live camera transmitting pictures back to base due to a technical problem. There is nothing like the real thing and was good to watch male bringing fish for 3 healthy young.
All 3 of the Glaslyn Osprey chicks have safely fledged. Chick 79 finally took to the air this morning. Thanks to excellent parenting by the adult birds, another generation of Osprey.
1st visit of the year and what a treat the resident pair where there sharing the egg sitting duties, also a chick from 2008 was on site over the weekend even sitting on the nest.
