My objection to the continuing peat extraction has also been submitted today. More info on this subject can be found on the Lancashire Wildlife trust website.

Objection submitted Pete. Thanks for raising our attentions to it. It's a numbers game, if enough people object then we stand a much better chance of preserving the mosses.

The company who are at present defiling Chat Moss have applied to extend their licence to 2025 to continue to extract the peat, by which time their will be no peat left.I would urge everybody who visits this forum to put in an objection to their planning application. There are nowadays several viable alternatives to peat in the horticultural industry, there is no longer any need to vandalize forever something which took thousands of years to form.
To object go to Salford Corpn. web site, planning applications and log onto :-planning application 10/58826/FULEIA.You can then put in your objection on line, the more objections received, the more chance of getting this vandalism stopped, and who knows maybe getting Nightjar back as a breeding bird in Gt. M/c.
