Tues 18th Oct. Hobson Moor Road 16.00 hrs

7 Rook feeding in the field at side of lay-by at the fork.

Around a dozen finches were feeding at the lay-by under the first Beech trees on way up but were flushed by a passing car before I got bins on them ..... as I said at the time "Dear Me" !

Roger.

07.30/12.00

We made up a little loop walk from along Hobson Moor Rd to Higher Swineshaw Res.

Plenty of activity and song along the route, most of the song wasted on my dodgy hearing but no doubt about the calling Curlews.

A dog walker reported a Cuckoo calling around Middle Bank but we never picked this up.

Three Common Sandpiper, Stonechat with juveniles, plenty of Meadow Pipit, a pair of Willow Warblers nest building and Skylark were other highlights.
