Thanks for the reminder Pete, I was only thinking about it the other day, but my permit expires on March 31st. As ever, with my BBS and WeBS commitments on the site, as well as coverage over the year (although not as much as Simon??!!) I will be renewing my permit again. I'll e-mail Ian Leech this week for new card.
John is right that the contact details for Heaton Park are wrong and I will amend that in the next few days.
It should be borne in mind though that although permits for Heaton Park seem appealing, to be fair the site can be hard work for birding, just ask Simon Johnson . As such, many have obtained permits with good intentions but failed to maintain any sort of visits and so permit holders would ideally be birders looking to give the site regular coverage all year round. Too many hold permits almost purely for those occasional rarities but viewing can usually be obtained from outside the perimeter fence for such occasions and permits obtained for them are a waste.
So, before you apply, please carefully consider exactly how much time you would likely be able to dedicate the the site as there are folk waiting who would likely make it their local patch and they should rightly take presedence, especially considering the very small proportion of permits available (for which there is a very good reason!).

I live close and would visit often (probably on my way to see City), so I would love a permit, how and when do I apply?. Cheers Ian
Hi Ian,
The application details are elsewhere on this website (look under Who's Who) but the contact name is wrong - now Ian Leech.
There is a long waiting list for permits and it just doesn't move. I know because I've been stuck at number 4 on that list for 3 years. So I echo Pete's comments with my own plea. If you are not currently using your permit please don't renew.
Permits for the above will shortly be due for renewal. As there is a waiting list for this site could I please ask all the people who have a permit and don't use them(You know who you are),not to renew them, and give a chance to people who would use them and also benefit the site by giving it more coverage.
