Frodsham Marsh - Development

But watch out for the potholes - very little track maintenance had been done last time I was there. All part of the master plan? disbelief.gif

Mike I hate the things they are ugly and they will not solve our worrying future energy needs, particularly as our population are set to increase dramatically through immigration. If I was in charge it would be nuclear and modern clean coal power stations and pretty damn quick. Our government likes to spend public money then let them spent it on that. It wont happen though Green politics wins the day and we stuck with gestures such as the wind farms all over whats left of our wild places. The gullible public are set for future power cuts, enormous hikes in fuel bills as import energy from France and Russia as we cant make our own. Another Gordon Brown plan of genius.

Henry, never seems to take into account all the environmental damage building the site and the conventional power plant running inefficiently in the background (ready for days like today when the wind don't blow).
Never seems to take into account the increase in mortality of the local bird population - can't find the references but work done in California and Spain show many birds being struck by the blades.
Never seems ... sorry turbines make me depressed

Peel Holdings rear their ugly head once again...
I'm all for wind turbines but the siting and planning mechanism is currently not strict enough in my opinion, and it doesn't take into account enough environmental criteria.

I know its not Manchester Birding but Frodsham Marsh is one of the premier birding sites in the North West. Someone mentioned this to me at the weekend and apparently they are going to turn it into a windfarm. Apart from the major loss of loss of north west bird habitat in future as you drive to chester / north wales on the M56 where you now see marshland and stanlow in the far distance you will see windfarms instead. I can't wait.

There is an action group formed which you can find on the web.
