These are both general clothing stores. If you don't mind spending more then you can get something more specialised that is waterproof but doesn't rustle like the Country Innovation range (bit of a cliche I know but I love mine). For these you'll have to go to somewhere that stocks them like RSPB Leighton Moss or WWT Martin Mere.
Thanks for that! £34 is very good. I will have to make a trip there. I live in East Lancashire so Stockport is not too far. I was looking at spending possibly well over £50. Brands dont really bother me, as long as it does the job.
Decathlon in Stockport do a massive range of non branded [well their own brand in the main] outdoor gear - I got a waterproof insulated winter coat in a bird friendly green for £34 last winter. I'm not allowed to go there very often cos I can easily fill a shopping trolley! Its good value stuff and of a high enough quality for 95% of the time.
I hope to do more winter birding this season but at least need the right type of clothing. I was wondering if anyone can tell me any place in the North-west where I can buy a waterproof coat of any kind which is fully waterproof and cheap, with a hood of course.
Not to forget a strong umbrella. I want to buy a strong umbrella which not only protects me from getting wet but survives gusty winds. I dont mean the big golfing umbrella which cannot really handle wind. It blows in and out then snaps. I am looking for an umbrella with lots of spokes/pikes which hold the sheet. I did buy such an umbrella but I have forgotten where from now. I have not seen any more of those as well.
Please can someone direct me to any good and if possible cheap places for the above pieces of equipment. I will be very grateful.
