Thank you Ian. I had found most of those sites via Google yesterday but I couldn't get them to play sounds. I still couldn't play any sound this afternoon much to my husbands consternation. He has now found that the Wave file on my computer is not working - whatever that means! However the American site that John mentions does work as it contains mp3 files so I will download that.
Unfortunately the bird I heard yesterday was not a Yellow Browed, but at least I am ready for them now. I am going to Spurn on Friday with some friends from Bury and Radcliffe so hopefully I will hear one for real.

The Xeno-Canto website has a large, free library of bird sounds from all over the world. They include quite a few yellow-browed clips in the Asia section.
Try some of the links below Anne. It has to be said though that Coal Tit can sound similar as can a couple of other species. Once familiar with though, the call of Yellow-browed Warbler is highly distinctive but caution should still be exercised. Calls transcribed in field guides are most often rather confusing and difficult to appreciate, sound recordings (other than field experience) are clearly the best option.
Today I had a large mixed flock of small birds in my garden, mainly Long-tailed tits. As I did not have my binos outside at the time I could not ID the others, but one was making a loud call, the like of which I have never heard before. A sort of SurrWEEEET.
The thing is that people have told me that Yellow Browed Warblers have a diagnostic call, but the problem is that I do not have a recording of that species. I have Roche's bird calls of Europe on CD and also the Birdguides CD ROM of European birds, but neither features the call of YB Warbler.
How can I find out what this call sounds like? Can anyone help please?
