A drake Red-breasted Merganser was present yesterday at the southern end around 3:55, while in the gull roost were first winters of Caspian and Yellow-legged Gull along with an adult of the latter too and an adult Mediterranean Gull. Other birds included 5 Goosander, 7 Teal and 8 Mandarin
Late news for yesterday late afternoon when an adult Yellow-legged Gull was present in the roost along with 99 Lesser Black-backed and 123 Herring Gulls.
Great White Egret flew north over the fields west of the reservoir at 10:14am. Also present an adult Common Tern, Curlew flew NNW, 3 Common Sandpipers but no sign of the Little Stint.
1 Partridge species on the path and flying into the woods near the Japanese Gardens. Interesting place for it. Likely a Grey.
Also a Green Woodpecker near here last week.
Yesterday evening, an Osprey tried to fish at 8:16pm but was chased off by two Crows and seemed to head SW towards Crown Lane. Singles of Turnstone and Sanderling were feeding on the new island up to 8:50pm atleast
