theres a machine thats advertised in all the camera mags,its about £100 and scans slides/negatives strieght onto computer,looks a bit like the old slide viewers where you put in 36 slides and pull and push to load them through,also the old manual nikon lens will still be useable with nikon cameras as the mount hasn't changed at all,and even on my d90 which is the newest model,30 year old lenses work.also an alternative is tescos/jessops etc who scan slides onto disc for about 10p each

I do no serious wildlife photography these days except on a casual basis using my wife's little digital Cannon Ixus 60 which gives passable results (but nothing like the quality stuff as evidenced on this site for example).
I have bucket loads of slides going back 25 years from lots of trips using conventional film with my old Nikon SLR and 300 lens(manual), but this has all seemingly been rendered obsolete now with the march of digital technology. My question to the expert photographers among you is:
Is there any economical means of downloading such slides onto a computer please, and what sort of kit does this, and does it cost much?
