RE: lost avatar

Just lovin' Rob Thorpe's changing avatarssmile.gif. His gentle micky take of Elton(which us old eltonians are taking on the chin) is brilliant.
Just one thought, if Elton Rocks does Wigan Roll??
It would have to Roll, as I'm told the Pies are not up to muchbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian, it has now sorted itselfdisbelief.gif I've had slow loading of the new page several times (thank God there isn't a speed prize!) but never the crossed wires link. Now I've got July AND August when I click July I get July etc.

I blame the tree roots. Apparently there are problems in my area due to the large number of mature trees, causing problems with underground cables. At least that's the excuse one company was giving for not supplying cable tv.

Paul and Ian's problems were specifically regarding their avatars on this forum Mike. The website is totally different and related to the forum in name and owner only. I've received no other such problems concerning the mystery birds yet but if any one has any similar/same as yours then they need to let me know asap. Once the website is updated and I have checked that it has been published correctly (usually using two computers and a mobile phone running totally different screen sizes I have, just to make sure), then the website as accessed via the server by everyone who ever looks at it on the web, can only show the pages that I have published.

Unfortunately Mike, that's as much as I know. The server cannot run two different two different pages for the same one, so I can only summise that the problem lies with you accessing the new pages for some reason. I haven't a clue what that reason might be though Mike, I'm a birder with a very small amount of computer knowledge unfortunately but surely there must be someone out there who can help us

As a mystery bird stalwart and one of my best customers though Mike I can easily email the images (same size etc as on the web, no advantage ) to you until we resolve this issue.

No it's an odd link. The July answers and August pics lines & links haven't appeared. The page is still as it was for July (checked again before I came on tonight) but the July pics link now links to the August birdsconfuse.gif- a wader and 2 Teddy Boy haircuts

It doesn't matter, probably just a coincidence that it happened now, with Paul & Ian W also reporting problems.

Ok, so I've incorrectly labelled July's mystery bird answers as August's, soon to be changed as soon as I get home from work tomorrow, but surely you recognised the miserable bedraggled lbj and gull from last month As for August's mystery pair, well the pics are there which seeing as you refer to the face and two arses Of number 15 (no one's interested in the arse of the wader) I determine you too can actually see them too?

Not sure about the gremlins Mike but judging from the answers I've already for August's pairing, like myself most others can see them all too. Drop me a line if you're still having problems though and we'll see what we can sort out

Maybe there's a late Summer influx of Gremlins. devilish.gif

I've no July Mystery Bird answers or, apparently, August pics, but when I click on July pics it links to Augustconfuse.gif. Yes, I have cleared my cache!

BTW shouldn't it be a face and 3 arse-ends, or is there something vital missing from Mystery Bird no 15?biggrin.gif

Mmmmm...........technology eh ?! Thanks for sorting it Ian, though it looks somewhat larger than the old avatars. I make no apologies for it however, it being a nod to my greatest passion ~ Soul music. (BTW, It`s a badge from a Northern Soul club in Manchester, back in the days).

Ian's is a slightly different problem to yours Paul. Whereas you couldn't see your avatar when all around you could (and I can still see it ), Ian cannot upload a new avatar and has lost (for whatever reason) his old ones. Just as well really as they were all Lancs based Ian, you can still search your computer for the required image, I've tied it myself tonight and it's all there. I've rung you but you're obviously busy feasting on a mountain of pies or something

Join the club buddy!

As a guess,
1. Go into user detail
2. Then profile find Avatar and click on that
3. A box should open that allows you to search your computer!

After that I am lost, I have only just got back the other avatars.
complicated stuff these computers, and mine is a atari......
think I will just.

p.s. no problems here Paul. Anything effecting the forum from my end would effect everyone, so as this seems confined to you personally it looks like a software problem your end. Not that it helps you unfortunately...

try downloading java,as a lot of these type of things need java platform to work, and sometimes if you get a windows update it get rid of java.also try cleaning up your temp files ,as sometimes if your comp memory is getting full,it won't have enough memory to download some bit.go to tools options, delete temp files history cookies etc, then re-boot.biggrin.gif

Well.. re-started, re-booted, kicked and screamed at no joy!furious.gif

Everything else is working fine, and I know it should make no difference, but I like the avatars, and all I am getting is a blank white square with a red cross in it.

Any ideas!!!!!!!!!!
