Mark, try to go somewhere that you try the binocular out. Focal Point is ideal for this and their advice is good - http://www.fpoint.co.uk/ Dependent on where you live Birdnet in Buxton is well stocked and well priced, again super advice available - http://www.birdnet.co.uk/ If you're in Stockport or restricted to public transport then the Stockport Binocular and Telescope Centre in Edgeley is a good bet, again excellent advice - http://www.telescopes-binoculars.co.uk/acatalog/Choosing_your_binoculars.html Spend as much as you can afford, would be my only advice.
Have a look at Vortex Crossfire 8x42 for about £135.
They give a very bright image and are good in low light conditions. They also have a good field of view. They come with a lifetime guarantee and are waterproof etc.
I have recommended them to several people who are very happy with them for the money!
Welcome to the forum Mark - for binoculars the choice depends a lot on the budget but don't buy cheapies from the newspapers that claim trillions of times magnification!!!!. If your not sure about it best to go to one of the specialists - Focal Point they are only minutes from the M56 close to junction 10 and the A559 towards Northwich, or In Focus at Martin Mere where they both have a good selection and are willing to give advice.
Morning all! Thinking of getting a new pair for my birthday in two weeks. Happy with the scope I have but my bins are not good. What would you suggest?
