RE: Leigh Town Centre

Magic moment in LIDL car park 07.50 en route to work.

Kestrel jinking at fairly low level across the car park, settled on the advertising hoarding less than 15 yards from me, and was then chased off by a Jackdaw.

Seen a Sparrowhawk high over the area before, but never a Kestrel, and great to see it so close against the early morning sky.
The poetry of LIDL!

Noticing quite significant numbers of starlings at the moment in Leigh during the daytime. They are often visible as individuals or 2's and 3's on lamposts, in groups of 10-20 in berry trees around Tesco and the Arches car park, and then sometimes coalescing in the air into flocks up to about 200.

Great to see this - I've not noticed this happening in the past couple of years anyway.

Maybe just getting more observant, or maybe local numbers are increasing - that would be great.

Family party (6) of Swallows on wires at Gerard St Leigh this morning could have bred in this area but hard to verify.
