5 red grouse including one splendid male on a dry stone wall.they were on the moor between burnt edge and the quarry.lots of calling as they flew away.i then had to exit as a mini blizzard set in.

Late posting for yesterday: a Greenshank was flushed in the valley between Burnt Edge and Holden's Farm, Smithills Moor. (Info. from Dennis Weir)
