Wood Warbler elusive early evening not far from the steps at Binn Green car park, seen singing breifly then moved up to the canopy and lost to view a few minutes later. Refound just after 7pm at the bottom of the two car parks and then flew across Holmfirth Road to the shrubs on the hill side (pots and pans side). Also Curlew over and 2 Crossbill calling over twice along the lane below Binn Green.

Wood Warbler still belting it out at 13.00 in same area.   Spends time in high canopy but with patience comes down to lower levels.

Sunday 19th, Wood Warbler still singing away above the Binn Green steps at 17:30. You don't even need to go more than 50m from the car. Seemingly undisturbed by the hordes going up and down the steps. Can be quite high in the canopy which means it's often against the light, with patience good views can be obtained.

Saturday 18th 6am

Wood Warbler showed well from the steps below Binn Green car park, constantly in song. Almost 3 years to the day I saw my last one here.
Cuckoo also heard calling.

Wood warbler still singing at Binn Green at half three yesterday afternoon. Very tricky to see, I got the best (but brief) view of it looking into the canopy from the road on the way back to Greenfield. Also a cuckoo calling from the plantation on the other side of the reservoir from the Binn Green viewpoint. The ring ousel singing from somewhere North of the car park had me frankly stumped, not least because I'd never heard the song before and didn't know what I was looking for. There was a full songscape along Holmfirth Road, mostly blackbirds, song thrushes and robins with chaffinches, chiffchaffs, willow warblers and blackcaps; also red-legged partridges feeding with the sheep.
