I know you've all probably had a sleepless night waiting for the next istalment, well I just spoke to my friend James again and his next door neighbour has told him that a bird flew into her window yesterday morning. The Cuckoo stayed around all yesterday and eventually James called the RSPCA who picked it up in the evening. He hasn't heard back from them yet. Presumably teams of top consultant vets have been working on the bird throughout the night.

I still haven't quite worked out how it got into the garage yet!

A non-birding friend of mine found a bird in his garage this morning in a pretty poor state. He phoned me and from the description I assumed it was a going to be a Feral Pigeon, but he later sent me a good picture off his mobile and it was a Cuckoo!!! The house is just off Ayres Road.

He took the bird out of the garage and placed it on a thick branch in a tree at the end of his garden, but from what he was saying it didn't have too long left. There were no obvious signs of injury. Haven't spoken to him again today, but I asked him to keep the corpse if he finds it. No idea how it actually got into his garage!

Ian, the photo's on my phone if you want it.
