A Hobby was the undoubted star bird of a short morning circuit through Redisher Wood. It circled a few times over the Wood before drifting off north. Also Buzzard, Green Woodpecker, Lapwing and 2 Grey Wagtail.
This a.m. with Malcolm, highlights were, 1 Tawny Owl, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Ring Ouzel, 2 Stonechat, 1 Wheatear. Heard only were Cuckoo and 2 Grasshopper Warbler. Cheers Ian
Cuckoo present on the eastern side of the Moor at about 19.00. Later seen to fly round the southern end of the Moor and continue up the Red Brook Valley.
Also the Red- legged Partridge seems to have found a mate, as 2 birds were present on the western edge of the Moor. Other birds of note:
An interesting short evening circuit with the highlight being a mixed flock of Fieldfare and Ring Ouzel. Initially I saw 2 Fieldfare and 1 male Ring Ouzel on the moorland edge above Moorbottom Road, but a little later a flock of 12 birds took off and headed north. I think it was 8 Fieldfare and 4 Ring Ouzel, but I could only be sure of 3.
Also 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 Wheatear and 1 Stonechat.
Presumably the same Red-legged Partridge as seen by Rob, but it was inadvertently flushed from the western edge of the Moor and flew down into the valley.
Also 1 Little Owl, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Wheatear, 1 reeling Grasshopper Warbler and 1 Lesser Redpoll.
Nice afternoon bimble around the moors .. all the Fieldfare would appear to have departed and a Red-legged Partridge has appeared in the sheep fields . Only 3rd one I've seen up here
5 Ring Ouzel, Grasshopper Warbler, Swallow, 2 Stonechat, Wheatear, Skylark, Willow Warbler, Nuthatch, Chiffchaff and loads of Green Hairstreak butterflies.

At last! 2(1m,1f) Ring Ouzel at the north end of the Red Brook valley. Not in previously reported locations but in the broken ground east of the stream. Best of the rest:
1 Curlew and 5 Lapwing.
4 Buzzard, 2 Little Owl.
Willow Warbler everywhere with a few Blackcap and Chiffchaff.
Couldnt find any Ring Ouzel during a late visit- my third failed attempt! Still 30+ Fieldfare in the valley bottom and some compensation in the form of a Tawny Owl, my first site record.
5 Ring Ouzel this evening together in one of the steep rocky gullies on the eastern slope above Moorbottom Road..still plenty of Fieldfare in the sheep fields.
09:35 am Moorbottom rd with Ian C 3 Ring Ouzel 2f 1m possibly another male. 130+ Fieldfare.. 2 Stonechat. 2 wheatear 12 Linnet. 1 Green woodpecker. 1 Willow warbler.
Ring Ouzel and c40 Fieldfare amongst the sheep near The Glen below Moorbottom Road .. c10 Wheatear in the area and a pair of Stonechat in the dead braken below Red Brook .. Sparrowhawk and 2 Buzzard also in the area .
Red Kite flew east above Red Brook across towards White Hill at 0815.. 10 years since I've last seen one here in the same place above Red Brook

Mistle Thrush defending the berries on a holly tree against all comers that included a Woodpigeon, a Jay, several Redwing and a Fieldfare!
And the one that got away... distant views of a blackbird that appeared to have a pale throat and pale wing panels. It dropped down from a tree into an area of dead ground and couldnt be relocated despite a search of the area.
