Bought a pair of the £12 bins just to keep in the boot of the car. They seem a bit big and heavy but not bad and you can't really complain at the price.
for a yougster I'd have thought something in the 7-8 X 32-36 range would be best. Smallish and lighter and easier to find stuff with than a 10x.
Nikon Action 7X35 are about £50 and they do a roof prism 8x36 sporter which are usually around the £80-90 mark. And, if he decides against birding, you've always got a decent pair as a spare.

Yeh Geoff i saw the advert too. Been checking Bresser on ebay and the like. One seller offering them for £25, reduced from £70 apparentley. They've got BAK4 lenses so got to be worth £12 I'm tempted myself, if only out of curiosity. I spent that much on beer last night
Hi Mark. I recently bought a pair of Bushnells - 10x42 H20 roof prism model for £90. I would recommend them as being very good value for money but are quite heavy. That's the only thing I would have to say against them but it might be a big thing. Just a suggestion. A smaller pair might be good for a nipper! Thanks. Henry.
My son has started an slight intrest in birding and has expressed an intrest in having a pair of bins. Can anybody surgest a make and model with a price around £100. I dont want to spend to much at first as he may loose intrest.
