Common Scoter still present 13:20 - 14:00 today.

About 30-40mtrs off the dam wall, lots of preening, wing flapping and tail shaking going on, maybe preparing to move on?

Anyone know if this bird is still here or has she flown?

Female Common Scoter still on Blackstone Edge Resr at 3pm close into the dam above the Pennine Way. It spent a lot of time swimming with its head just under the water.

5+ Red Grouse calling from the moors around Light Hazzles and Warland Resrs. One bird was observed feeding on heather shoots.

15 Shelduck on Blackstone Edge Res'r this evening ( 3 adults and 12 juvs) - the most I've ever seen in Rochdale

Also a stonking male summer plumaged Grey Plover on White Holme Resr - was flushed by a Peregrine at 19:00 but unfortunately couldn't get it to fly into GM airspace! Also 2 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plover and an Oystercatcher here - really need to get Rochdale to invade Calderdale to get White Holme into GM where it belongs!

A Rock Pipit at Blackstone Edge Res'r this morning on the rocky shoreline by Turvin Rd. It showed some characteristics of 'littoralis'. Also a Stonechat here.
