Tonight 170 Jackdaws flew in to Pennington from the west, but went to roost on the south side of the Flash instead of continuing east (on the previous occasion I could hear a few in the trees on the south side as well as the birds seen flying east)

Yes Dave, Botany Bay Woods does indeed have a roost of Corvids, including Jackdaws.

Going off thread, but still relating to corvids, on 10th Jan 109 Jackdaws flew east over Pennington Flash at dusk, while I was doing the gull roost - does anybody know where these might have been heading? Does Botany Bay Wood have a corvid roost?

Corvids now forget gulls I do like a good flock of corvids,
recommend The Crows Franklin Coombs
Crow Country mark cocker
two excellent corvid books
keep birding

Rooks 40+ feeding in field just off sale lane tyldesley, between mossley common and mort lane 1130 this morning. behind new housing estate lhs field going towards stonehouse farm.
