Male sparrowhawk in pursuit of an adult blackbird [ the blackbird escaped ]

Tawny owl calling on the railway lines 0730. last night managed with the help of a couple out walking to put out 2 grass fires. luckily did'nt cause to much damage as they were in the early stages,

1 Woodpecker [heard-very close]
Lots of Swallows and House Martins over the lake

1 Reeling grasshopper warbler , southwest corner, close to spring view cricket ground 2015 last night.

0545-0630
Dawn chorus [ good to see plenty of wren have survived the winter]
1 oystercatcher [ calling over old railway line heading south ]
3 chiffchaff
1 willow warbler[ first this spring for me ]
1 heron feeding.

30 minute walk along old railway line with dog, 1800- 1830.
G S Woodpecker [ drumming]
1 linnet
1 greenfinch
Pheasant [ calling ]
skylark [ singing, from ince landfill ].

1 chiffchaff, 0745 today.

0700- 0800
great spotted woodpecker [ drumming east of old railway line]
1 buzzard
4 long tailed tits
no sign of returning chiffchaffs, 10- 12 days late now.

5 Redpoll, north of lake, very flighty,before flying off north 1730.

Mixed group of mostly house martins,with a few swallows [ approx 15 in total ] feeding above old railway line 1600 today.

2 groups of geese totaling 75 flying east 0630 today, not sure if they were pinkfeet had no bins on me.

Late report of a cuckoo 9/8/12 close to old railway line calling briefly.

Watched a whitethroat singing and then carry out the classic display flight , old railway line .

From early yesterday morning grasshopper warbler reeling on ince landfill. heard from amberswood railway line.

Chiffchaff calling from old railway line 8am today.

Group of 10 carrion crows to the north of the lake being very vocal,every so often it sounded like there was a raven amongst them. could nt get a good id of the group as i had no bins on me, was wondering if i was hearing things or if the two types of corvid do flock together. any ideas i would be interested to hear thanks.
