Piethorne Valley 14/10.

Visit 7.45 to 9.45 a.m.

Good numbers of birds passing over:-

Redwing - 307+ - between 7.45 am and 9.00 am - parties of 3,9,9,14,4,8,18,2,3,47,80+ and 110+ all moved from east to west over the valley whilst calling - noticeably most of the larger flocks came later on in this time period. Also this must be regarded as a minimum count, in that there were other birds passing over whilst calling, which could not be located in the sky.
Fieldfare - 17 - 14 & 3 - all flying from east to west.
Starling - 125+ - parties of 40+ and 85+ - all flying from east to west.
Siskin - 13 flying south.
Lesser Redpoll - 7 moving west.

In the valley:- 4 Common Gull, 1 female Blackcap, 1 Raven, 2 Kingfisher, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe & 6 Goosander.

Cheers,

Bill.
