i heard what i assume to be Pink footed geese flying over Pilsworth today about 7pm. i did not see any because of the dark but heard the typical noise that they make as flying over.
there were also a minimum of about 20 pied wagtails present. pilsworth always has quite a few pied wagtails present in winter.
When I was returning from a cash point around 8.00 p.m. last Thursday evening, I heard a small flock of pink-feet close to my home in Romiley. I just wondered how common is night migration of pink-feet across our area? This was the second time this winter, but the first occasion seemed to feature only a single bird.
This may be the same flock of Geese that Mike Baron saw over Winwick. I had 140+ Pinkfeet over the Bridgewater canal at Worsley at 12.03pm today flying west.
