RE: 2006 county bird report

Thanks, everyone. Am off for a well-earned holiday now to Scilly for 2 weeks from 5th. But hope to see the Brown Flycatcher tomorrow! Eddie will be at home if anyone wants a copy...

Absolutely superb report. I read most of it on the train to Peterborough when I went to see my dad in Peterborough. He asked if he could keep it so it looks like I will be getting a second copy!

Got mine today, front cover is particularly impressive, very interesting reading throughout and thanks to the people who produce such a good report year in year out.

Interesting reading another year list attempt, great effort Rob and Sonia. Ian's total will be even harder to beat now with limited access to two of the best sites in the countyhmm.gif Safe as houses Ianwink.gif

Absolute fantastic, I am always amazed at the detail and information in these reports, and one thought crosses my mind each time I read it, and that is where the hell would you start if someone else had to do it, judith deserve praise from all the birders in Manchester for making sense out of all our notes reports and sightings well done and thanks for a great report.
personally I kicking myself for not going to some of the birds that were seen, regrets I have a few( good words for a song that) and basking in the memories or excellent days out I had, lost count of the time I went to see the divers, and now its gone how you miss Audenshaw, make good use of the keys lads, because we, d love to get one too.
As for birding on the edge had a quick read Rob Sonia well done makes one want to give it a go but the commitment is to intense
makes you proud to be a Manchester birder and ideas and days out already planning for 2008.
cheers

Having just received my copy (thanks Judith!) a few minutes ago and despite only giving it a quick flick through I can honestly say that I believe it to be the best report the county has ever produced to date. Get yourself a copy and see what I mean wink.gif

The County Report is now out - and jolly nice it looks too!

Judith was last seen heading off to Sale Water Park with their copies. I have several here at my workplace in central Manchester (MARC Ltd., 28 Edge Street, Northern Quarter - open 10 - 5) for anyone working locally.

Geoff, you can pick one up from my house and or I can drop one off - we live close enough!! There aren't any sale outlets in Wigan as there is no ranger centre open to the public at Pennington Flash. We used to sell it at the burger van, but it wasn't a success as despite putting them in envelopes they got greasy!
It is on sale at Etherow CP and Sale WP, where they do have visitor centres open to the public. Also Wigan, Bolton RSPB meetings, Hale OS and Manchester OS meetings, In Focus at Martin Mere, Stockport Binoculars. Or by post from me, or people can call for one.
I was hoping it could be ready today but Steve Suttill, who arranges the printing, says it will be early next week now.

I'll be advertising it's publication on the 'County Notice Board' as soon as it's ready so keep your eyes open around that time.

The 2006 report is nearing completion and just waiting for some drawings to be finished, and the police to supply a list of WLOs! We shall be able to have 2 colour insets this year, so that means 16 colour photos, plus the usual set of 12 photos, one for each month, on the inside and back covers. The front cover photo is a superb photo of 2 GN Divers at Audi, by Sean Gray.
I would imagine it will be ready by mid September (it better be ready before I go to Scilly!)
