Tip at IMF - always ask for information in the office before you walk down !
There's also a log book in the hide, but usually hidden under someone's butty box.
I got there about 11am on Sunday and they said the Spoonbill was visible at the back of No 1 but only visible from the top path and not the hide, which it was.
Little Egrets constantly commute from the big wood to Burton Marsh and can look big and white.

I dont mean to make things worse Mike but there was a Hobby reported later on at IMF.
You just need to keep at it, persistance pays off.
Thanks Simon
Just one of those days when the decisions I made were all naff. The best decision I did make yesterday was not to go haring off up to Leighton Moss in the evening which I was contemplating on to sort of rescue the day.
I have had Hobby's before at Risley, just not this year. I will keep going back.
Off to Inner Marsh Farm this morning. First opportunity to play out for a while after starting a new job and the chance of a Cheshire tick - Spoonbill.
Having arrived at opening time and finding no Spoonbill present I carried on scanning the area thinking they would turn up sooner or later. 10 minutes later a group of guys came in. They said they had seen two Spoonbills fly off from nr the hide while they were coming down the hill. I said I hadn't seen them and has been scanning the area around the hide. I suggested Little Egret as I had seen some of these flying around. No came the reply - definitely Spoonbill flying off towards Burton Marsh.
I hung around for a bit longer then decided to try Burton Marsh and the Decca Pools. After a couple of hours there I decided to cut my losses and headed off to Risley Moss for another unsuccessful attempt at Hobby (last time I missed 3 by 10 minutes). Two hours here and a couple of Buzzards were the highlight.
Overall one of the quietest days birding I have had and made worse when I got home and looked at Birguides to find the Spoonbill had been on the back of No 1 pool at IMF all along! Aaarrghh...
I then decided to download some photos from my camera and managed to delete the lot without saving them on the computer.
Oh well - the type of day that makes the good ones all that much sweeter.
