Chat Moss 08/06

In the glorious sunshine on Chat Moss (and elsewhere in the county I suppose), birding on the moss was as pleasant as usual with the following:

Yellow Wagtails- 2, one over field 19 and one on field 17, although neither was visible one the hit the deck as both fields are now long enough to hide thousands of 'em, of course there weren't thousands, well..not that I could see, anyway I digress.

Buzzard- 5, around and about soaring high.

Redpoll- 1 collecting nesting material along 12 yards road

Lesser Black-backed Gull- 300 utilising some small, hidden and strictly private pools just on the south side of the railway, although the birds were visible from Astley Road just north of Red Chalis Farm.

Tree Sparrow- 31 (atleast!), including many juvs around Rindle Cottages and field 69, plenty dust bathing around the horses water drinking thingy in the corner of field 69 by the gate with others up and down the path where the feeding is usually carried out.
