There is a public footpath through Seddon Fold Farm, from Lock Lane on the other side. Stan Terry is the farmer and very helpful - best to ask him which way he prefers you to go (due to horses etc - sometimes he prefers you to go a different way to the legal footpath). It gives you a good view of the back side of the islands without having to look into the sun, assuming it is pm when you go!

Rumworth this evening, 1 pair of Little ringed plover still there, 2 pairs of Oystercatchers. No sign of any young but i did get mobbed by both Plovers and Oystercatchers when i ventured out of the tree line, to avoid the glare of the sun on the water, which has never happened before so there seems a good chance there are young birds present. The islands are providing good vegetation cover at the moment, so the youngsters could have been hidden. 2 pairs of Gt Cd Grebe but again no sign of young and loads of Canada Geese but no goslings. 1 pair of Common Terns which chased off a bird of prey, Sparrowhawk i think. A few Tufties, coot, Pied wagtail, reed bunting, swallow, house martin, heron and a dead Black headed gull on the small island.
Does anyone know how much access is allowed around here? I usually park on Beaumont rd go over the style and cross the field to the line of trees near the waters edge. Good views of the islands from here. I've also ventured into the next field to view the reedbed but not sure where i'm allowed to go. It is all farm land so don't want to go somewhere i should'nt.
