16:35-18:55 walk around res 1 Sparrowhawk @ Feeders 1 Coal tit @ feeders. 1 Great Spotted woodpecker @ feeders 1 Common Sandpiper flew across the Reservoir towards wader point. 1 Sand Martin 14 Swallow. 3 Chiffchaff.
This a.m. with Malcolm, main birding interest was in the hedgerows with 23 Chiffchaff, 8 Willow Warbler and 1 Blackcap identified. Also at least 8 Jays seen. Approx 80 Swallows and 15 House Martin around Crow Trees. Howard the feeders are next to the car park before the entrance to the sailing club. Cheers Ian
This a.m. with Malcolm, on the res. 1 Shoveler of note, at the feeders a Sparrowhawk, on the river 2 Kingfisher and mainly around Crow Trees 90 Swallow, 16 House Martin and 7 Sand Martin. In the hedgerows 8 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler and 1 Blackcap and 10 Teal on pool by canal. 7 Meadow Pipit also. Cheers Ian

1 Kingfisher. 4 Jay. 6 Great Black Backed Gull. 2 Bullfinch. 3 Greenfinch. 15 Collared Dove. 8 Great Crested Grebe. 3 Grey Wagtail.
7 Lesser Black Backed Gull. 5 Grey Heron. 6 House Martin. 5 Sand Martin. 60+ Swallow. 80+ Starling. 4 Teal. 7 Tufted Duck. 30+ Goldfinch, with mix of House Sparrow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Robin, on Feeders.

06:00-10:50am A good day for ducks.
3 Pintail 1 flew in @ 06:20am then 2 dropped in near Capsticks only to leave west when a dog walker walked past as soon as they landed.(record shot attached )
1 Garganey with 3 Wigeon dropped in for about 5 minutes. (distant record shot attached)
1 pochard (Record shot attached) amongst some Tufted Ducks.
45 Tufted Ducks.
9 Teal 5 on Res 4 in pool next to Canal.
3 Great Black backed Gulls having a go at the Wigeon & Garganey causing them to leave.
8 Herring Gulls
1 Kingfisher.
1 Snipe.
3 Meadow Pipits over.
75 Swallows over SE
22 House Martins over S
4 Sand Martins.

06:20-10am with Ian & Malcolm.Highlights. 22 Wigeon first light with 8 flying off north 11 flew off SW just before 06:30am with 3 remaining. 4 Teal. 10 Shelduck flew off SW at 06:43am 34 Tufted Duck. 17 Cormorants. 1 Little Grebe. 2 Kingfishers. 1 Great black backed Gull. 1 Willow Tit. 5 Chiffchaff. 3 Willow Warbler. 2 Blackcap. 3 Meadow Pipits. 1 Kestrel. Good constant movement through off Swallows, House Martins with 5 Sand martins. 254 Canada Geese.
Walk round with my daughter 16:00-18:30pm very quite. 1 Common Gull. 1 Great Black backed Gull. 1 Shoveler 3 Teal. 2 Blackcap. 1 Willow Warbler. 2 Willow Tit. 1 Spotted flycatcher.
This a.m. with Malcolm, 1 Peregrine (on pylon towards Bury), 1 Wheatear, 1 Meadow Pipit (both near pumphouse), 100+ House Martin and Swallow with 50 Sand Martin, 4 Swift. On the res. 1 Shoveler with a Sparrowhawk and Kestrel over. 1 Water Rail heard at canal near pool which had 3 Teal. Cheers Ian
14:45-15:50p quick visit after work walked to the creek and back to the car park highlights. 3 Great black backed gulls 1 Adult 2 first winter. 1 Common Gull. 6 Spotted flycatchers in the creek. Good sized very active tit/warbler flock in the creek making it hard to count with at least: 1 Willow Tit 7 Willow Warblers. 1 Chiffchaff. 9 Long tailed Tit. 6 Blue tit.

This a.m. with Malcolm, 2 Yellow Wagtail over(S), 12 Goosander(SW), 1 Kingfisher in front of sailing club, 1 Peregrine (pylon 20), 1 Common Tern, Water Rail heard at Capsticks and along canal where there were 6 Teal, 2 Willow Tit near Capsticks and large numbers of migrating Hirundines with 1 Swift. Also 1 Sparrowhawk and 1 Kestrel. Cheers Ian

3 Sandwich Tern circled res calling at 9.41 gained height and went west Female Garganey - showing very well and was asleep on jetty when left 4 Tree Pipit South together 3 Redstart - Redstart hedge 3 Spotted Flycatcher - brigde by crow tree Peregrine 2 Buzzard 19 Swift 460 House Martin south 20 Sand Martin Water Rail 2 Wheatear Whinchat
Also this morning, a Hobby was present again chasing hirrundines over the reservoir, also 2 Redshank briefly before flying off NW and 2 Dunlin flew through. 1 Whinchat Elton Goyt.

07:00-11:30am with Derek 44 species seen highlights. 1 Hobby chasing Swallows and Martins from behind sailing club to Old hall Marsh at 07:45am 2 Sparrowhawks. 3 Kestrels. 2 Dipper on Warth Weir river Irwell. 2 Common Terns. 1 Kingfisher. 9 Teal. 1 Blackcap. 1 Juv Wheatear on wall side of Reservoir.
Yellow Wagtail flew over old hall marsh - south 200+ Lapwing over West 2 Snipe SW Green Sandpiper calling over withins Adult and Juvenile Great Black-backed Gulls 2 Common Tern - one was sat on the factory roof by the weir 11 Great crested Grebe Swift
06:30-10:30am with Ian C & Malcolm highlights. 1 Little Grebe 1 Common Gull 2 Common Tern. 1 Kingfisher. 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker. 6 Teal 2 Snipe. 1 Chiffchaff. 1 Nuthatch on return to car park.
Am visit this morning in the Rain with Ian C was very Quite so returned this afternoon highlights. AM visit 2 Gadwall. 1 Common Tern possibly 2 1 Redstart seen by Ian C 1 Pheasant.
PM visit 1 Juv Merlin flushed by me from about 30ft giving good view as it flew away.( Wish I had seen it before almost walking into it.) 1 Kestrel. 1 Little Grebe 3 Pheasants. Water Rail heard
Bushes were a lot quieter than last week but there seemed to be a little wader movement which kept the interest up
15 Black-tailed Godwit flew SW down the Irwell Valley 11 Snipe also SW in one flock plus 5 on old hall Marsh Lesser Whitethroat - canal at crow Trees Farm 2 Redstart (per Ian C) at Redstart hedge and the other in the Creek which I heard calling both thought that be juvs 4+ Blackcap 5+ Willow Warbler 2 Whitethroat 2 Great spotted Woodpecker 6 Teal 3 Common Tern Common Buzzard Tree Pipit heard calling over withins

Hobby chasing hirrundines over Capsticks then flew over the reservoir towards Bury at 6:55am Yellow Wagtail with the Highland Cattle and 2 female Redstarts Elton Goyt 1 Teal, but no sign of Garganey 2 broods of Tufted Ducks still 2 Water Rail
Also this a.m. 2 Tree Pipit over (at last as I heard 3 calling at Horwich yesterday but didn't see them), 2 Spotted Flycatcher, brief view of Water Rail at Capsticks and 3 Common Tern. Cheers Ian

Juvenile grey wagtail close 2 buzzards (one suprising brief very close encounter from a usually busy footpath) Green sandpiper (Very brief) Garganey near the car park Common tern Whitethroat heard
