RE: Groppers and Ouzels

I was up at Burnt Edge after dinner today and didn't find the Ring Ouzels either, although I was pretty sure I heard a Cuckoo calling twice at distance and mentioned this whilst on the 'phone to Pete Berry at the time, although I didn't know of this report and thought it quite early, so thought I must have been mistaken bleh

News from Andy Makin - he had a pair of Ring Ouzels this morning below the shelter belt at Adam Hill plantation, Burnt Edge but they couldn't be found later by someone who hadn't a lot of time to look due to work commitments. Yesteray, 3 Whimbrel flew over Two Lads Hillin the same area. This evening, Andy had 2 Grasshopper Warblers reeling at Amberswood - one by the water's edge and one on the way to Crompton St.
There was also a reliable report of a Cuckoo calling continuously in Horwich in the Lever Park area (but in GM) on Easter Sunday.
The Smew was still at Horrocks Flash today but the Whooper has gone. There was a widespread fall of Willow Warblers at the Wigan Flashes today.
