Wuchie Rook comes from the name Woodshaw Ruck (Ruck as in Slag heap) or so I've been told.

Hi Gary

When we wuz kids we used to `play` on this slag heap and it was always known as `Wutchie-rook`, spelt however you like ! What it actually means, or where it got it`s name is anyone`s guess. Perhaps some o` thowd uns know ?

great walk around hill at 9.00am on a sunny day spotted a willow,coal,blue,great and long tailed tit.chaffinch,goldfinch,greenfinch and a year tick for me was a pair of yellow hammer.two ravens,6 jays ,great spotted woodpecker,chiff chaff,magpie,reed bunting.highlight was watching a stoat chasing a vole only 3 ft away from were i was sitting.
 IS THERE ANOTHER NAME FOR THIS HILL NOT SURE IF THIS IS CORRECT?confused
