Bit of a flying visit back to my old patch for a few days before heading back to N Wales. Yesterday dawned really nice, and for once I saw it, thanks to a handy 4 hour jet lag. A fox was in the field behind the house, nice start.
Walked along Brooks Drive, and through the fields to Bowdon Rugby Club and back from 8 - 10 a.m.
It was one of those late autumn mornings where birds were on the move, some clear skies in some places overnight but also scattered showers to bring things down. And the forecast was for it to deteriorate. I bet the vis miggers on both sides of the Pennines had a good morning.
41 species in total, including Fieldfare, Reed Bunting, Skylark, Grey Wag, Siskin, 3 Redpolll sp., Chiffchaff, Linnet, Stock Dove.

Today 7 - 8.30 a.m., much fewer birds, both species and overall numbers but new sp were Bullfinch over calling, a Brambling, and G S Woodpecker

A Pheasant called three times (quite separately) very early morning from the Fairywell Wood area. It seemed to be getting further away, prob moving south down the stream away from potential disturbance. Think it might be my first in Timps... not sure how often Henerz got them just across the fields towards Davenport Green.

Another flock of Pinkfeet over Whitebeam Close near Fairywell Wood this evening, about 6pm. It sounded like they were heading north and there seemed to be a good number.

King George V Pool

Thanks to the great information contained in posts on here, my wife and I visited KG V pool for the first time this morning (I've only lived in Sale for 57 years!). Many thanks everyone who has given details of this location to date
Conditions under foot were dire, the path around the pool was a quagmire, but we saw:-

10.50 - 12.00
1 Kingfisher, showing very well
3 Mute Swans, (2 ad, 1 Juv)
6 Canada Geece
21 Mallard
2 "odd ducks" poss Aylesbury/Mallard cross?
3 Tufted Duck
2 Nuthatches
2 Moorhen
1 Coot
1 Treecreeper
1 Redwing
6 Siskins
2 Goldfinches plus others heard
3 Long Tailed Tits
3 Robins (2 displaying)
1 Grey Wagtail on adjacent brook
1 Sparrowhawk on ground, disturbed by our approach & sent crashing after prey through bushes behind houses on Birchlea

Roughly 100 Pinkfeet flew north over Whitebeam Close, Timperley 2.50 pm. They were the lowest and possibly most vocal i've ever had, calling excitedly and flying somewhat erratically and gave the impression that they were moving locally rather than say between Norfolk and the Lancs mosses.

The Leucistic Black-headed Gull was back again today at 12.50pm feeding with normal BH Gulls on Altrincham College of Arts sports field. I got closer views today. It has very light brown primaries that are hardly visible and completely white back. It has normal red legs and bill. It's amazing how the difference in colour seems to change the overall jizz of the bird. It seems almost pigeon-like in the way it struts around!

Leucistic Black-headed Gull feeding with normal BH Gulls on Altrincham College of Arts sports field this morning at 9.30am. Had 1 here back in November - could be the same bird returning - certainly looked the same. Also had 1 here in Nov 2009.
