Birdguides reported 2 sightings of Cranes today - one over Astley Green at 1159 moving from the S then circling, and one over Eccles at 1545 moving W then NW towards Winter Hill - no idea whose sighting this latter one is - please get in touch for a rarity form!
Also John Butterworth had 7 Waxwings in treetops at Banky Meadow at 0915 but they had gone by 0930.
A drake Red-breasted Merganser was very briefly on Audenshaw Resrs at 0720 but flew off almost immediately (James Wild).
