Simon Hitchen had what was almost certainly a littoralis (Scandinavian) Rock Pipit at Blackstone Edge Resr today.  Dave Winnard also agreed with this ID.

Hi

There were no Wheatears at Lighthazzles though I`m expecting `em any minute. Incidentally, a Wheatear was ringed at White Holme feeding station on the 17 March by the Twite ringing team.

Quite a few of us seem to have spent yesterday up on t'moors - lovely day for it.  I hauled my aching bones up onto the summit of Alphin (Greenfield) where there were Mipits galore and more singing Skylarks than you could shake a stick at. Apart from a pair of Stonechats and a distantly-heard Curlew, there was oddly little else about. No Wheatear, Golden Plover ot Lapwing, no Ravens or any birds of prey. I only flushed one Red Grouse all morning. Lapwings were present aplenty in fields just below the moors where the nice farmer seems to have created ideal conditions for them - for a change!

I did better than you, Les, in the late afternoon, with 50 Twite at Light Hazzles but very little else other than Curlew and Red Grouse heard. I walked up from the canal at Warland - a new way for me - as I had to go to Todmorden. The only problem is, you're in Yorkshire all the way! A few Fieldfares, a couple of Curlews and a pair of Grey Partridge, all in Yorkshire...

Hi Les

You obviously had better day up there than I did. Weather was like today's but when I arrived very low cloud and cool. Had to put woolly hat and gloves on as well as an extra jumper.

Couldn't see far in front when I started but by the time I reached the feeding station cloud had lifted and I had eleven Twite. Heard Golden Plover, Curlew and Raven but never saw them.

As you stated loads and loads of mipits and Skylarks

Hi all

35 Twite on feeding stations, 4 Twite on Light Hazzles Edge.
1 pair Stonechat, 2 male Reed Bunting behind White House Pub.
3 Curlew, 2 Lapwing, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Ravenin area.
1 Peregrine on pylon by Cows Mouth Quarry - flew off NW in direction of Warland Village at 11.30am.
Many many Mipits displaying and Skylarks singing ( I gave up counting at 30 odd each)
