i mentioned putting into the appropriate thread because i have been putting all my sightings in this thread for the last 14 months, but you are quiet right ian it is all one area & it does not have to have its own thread it can easily be put into the salford quays thread as many others have done so in the past.
sorry for this causing a little debate, lets hope we can get back down to some serious bird sightings.

It's a tricky one ! I consider my local patch to be the whole of the Salford Docklands, this is the area from Weaste ETW along the Manchester Ship Canal, to Ontario Basin, Trafford Wharf, Media City, Broadway area, Trafford Road Bridge & Pomona area up to the Halfpenny Bridge

As the whole area is now known as Salford Quays I'm personally ok with Pomona sightings going in the Salford Quays sightings, perhaps also sightings from Weaste ETW should also go in Salford Quays, as this site is also a big part of the Quays birding experience, & this would make it more convenient for birders to plan trips to the area

PS I'm currently getting the area's official list together & (when I have the time) I'll also have a go at doing a map for Salford Quays to go on the manchesterbirding site

Hmm, not the answer I was looking for

The fact that Pomona is actually seperate from the Quays and is a site in its own right is a worthy reason to keep its own thread (which indeed it is and will, as I was merely asking for opinion as others had asked if it was necessary), but that it lies in another borough has little reasoning for its own thread to me? Very important distinction? On a bird sightings forum- why?

As for me being the only one to post Pomona sightings on the Quays thread, take another read of the thread Nick

I'd say leave it to its own devices as a separate thread, I'd often jump off the Met and scout it and get back on onwards, missing the Quays out.
It's an important little place worthy of its own thread an capable of producing the goods.
Plus it's a separate borough, as Nick pointed out.

">Does Pomona actually need it's own thread? As part if the Salford Quays it may well be easier to include it within that thread, especially as birds and birding at Pomona often includes elsewhere on the quays"

Salford Quays is in Salford, Pomona is in Trafford; very important distinction !!!

and you're the only one that posts Pomona sightings on the SQ thread !!

(either way, not fussed, James and Steven are the main watchers, their shout ??)
