I would appreciate any late afternoon counts of the Cormorant roost opposite the hide on the river at Etherow CP. Because of DEFRA shooting threats please send them to me privately at judith@gmbirds.freeserve.co.uk  - they will be on the database but not in the county report.

Hi Phil

I usually go left hand path past garden centre. At last bridge over canal down towards weir looking out for the Dippers on river below. From the nridge over river back along to the old pump houes where usually on the river behind are Mandarin.

Then up past the house on to the Keg trail and keep walkiing, usual woodland birds but keep your ears aalive as Raven often fly over the woodland.

Stopping off at feeders usually Nuthatches, titmice and have had Green Woopecker here.

Follow the path down towards the back of the park there was a flock of Siskin in the alders.

When you get to the Keg pool keep to the river side as their is always a chance of Kingfisher either on the pool or along the river.

Also keep your eyes out for Buzzards and Sparrowhawks above the woodland.

When you get back towards the main pool take the central path to get views of both reservoir and pool.

Wouldn't mind trying Etherow Country Park this weekend.

I haven't been for a good while so wondered if anyone has been recently and if so, what was there and the best route to follow round the park?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phil
