If anyone finds a small (1cm diameter) camera shutter knob in the hide it's mine! I was using my camera to photo the Avocet yesterday, and when I took it out to hopefully photo the Slav Grebe at Audi, it was missing this vital knob. (it's for a Nikon Coolpix 4500)
Now that the reporting of big flocks of Waxwings has dwindled and sightings are now down to a couple or single birds.
Do these waywards who have lost thier flocks, make it back to Scandanavia or get lost en-route or do they stay around for the summer.
Now's the ideal time to count Rookeries, before the leaves come on the trees. I've a suspicion they are in decline in Greater Manchester, so any counts will be very welcome...
Just a reminder that this week is the best chance to see Bitterns departing the area to return to their breeding sites - there is a full moon on 19th. Bitterns may also turn up in strange places this week!
