Work has started on upgrading the towpath from Bamfurlong Bridge on the A58 to Plank Lane lift bridge. This means that sections of the towpath will be closed off whilst imprinted concrete is laid - currently access is closed at the A58 bridge.
From the A58 bridge to Dover Bridge on the A573 it is possib...
Looking at several recent postings on the sightings page, I notice that some folk are beginning to take advantage of the earlier sunrise, and are out there taking on the world at 6.30 a.m. Now whilst I admire their dedication, and would not seek to question their sanity, I do pose the question: why so ea...
If anyone finds a small (1cm diameter) camera shutter knob in the hide it's mine! I was using my camera to photo the Avocet yesterday, and when I took it out to hopefully photo the Slav Grebe at Audi, it was missing this vital knob. (it's for a Nikon Coolpix 4500)

Just a reminder that this week is the best chance to see Bitterns departing the area to return to their breeding sites - there is a full moon on 19th. Bitterns may also turn up in strange places this week!
Although I've never seen this, they are supposed to spiral up from reedbeds at dusk.

Rewarded by flushing a Woodcock on Heron Lane just two minutes walk from home - first ev...
