Of note today;

Pair of Yellow Wagtail in the wheat(?) field at the SE corner of F1
Male Redstart in the trees aside the concrete road just past the barrier. RH side as you head towards Dunham, just in line with the first 'speedbump'
Several calling Whitethroat, Yellowhammer and the odd Blackcap. Numerous Mistle Thrushes on the ploughed fields.

2 Yellow Wagtails showing well on the wires and on the ploughed fields on the corner of F2, F11 and F4.
Yellowhammer and Common Whitethroat in the same vicinity.
Wheatear on several ploughed fields.

2 further Yellow Wagtails enjoying what is left of the muddy pool at the NE corner of F25.

From an earlier visit (30.4.24) Yellow-Legged Gull in F2.

Lesser Whitethroat singing and showing intermittently in hawthorn hedge SW corner of f4

Ploughed fields have brought in 5 Wheatear at the narrow end of f2 and 4 in f12

Yellow wagtail male showing well along track between f1 and f10

2 Mediterranean Gulls over f4 and circling over Shell Pool

Ring Ouzel still present at 9.20 feeding in the open on f12, which was a bonus, before flying into its favoured hawthorn hedge.

Male ring ouzel was present in the south west corner of field 4 at 2.25pm, its was on the path in full view drinking water from a puddle but after that for over an hour it stayed pretty much elusive along the hawthorn hedge, flying out & back in every now & then.

yellow wagtails over f4 but heard only
8 wheatear f12
1 wheatear f5
2 grey partridge f2
1 yellowhammer f4
1 raven at the power station
Numerous buzzards around

Dawn walk around NW areas (F4, 2, 1, 10, 11, 12, 14)

 

Ring Ouzel still present as per Pete Hines observation (thanks!). Happily bathing in the path puddles and feeding in F4. 

Grey Partridge pair flushed in F1

3 Yellow Wagtail in F1

2 Lapwing beyond the fence in the chemical works behind the Orchard

Swallow in F1

2 Wheatear in SW of F14

1 Raven over F11

Yellowhammer, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff dotted about

Ring Ouzel male in the SW corner of F4, being chases by Blackbirds whenever it emerges from the hedgerow where it is keeping elusive
Wheatear 5 - 2 in F2 (male and female), 3 in F12 (2 male and a female)
Yellow Wagtail 3 - 1 in F4 flew out over the reserve, 1 in F12, 1 in F1. All males
Mediterranean Gull 1 adult over F4 calling, flying towards the reserve
Oystercatcher 4
Lapwing 8
Raven 2 (carrying food)
Skylark 10
Willow Warbler 4
Chiffchaff 18
Blackcap 8
Common Whitethroat 2 F2

West side of Moss only.

Yellowhammer 8
Linnet 2
Stock Dove 11
Buzzard 2
Fieldfare 12+

Mistle Thrush 1 singing.
Song Thrush 1 singing.
Chaffinch 1 singing + 1.
Kestrel 1 male.
Great Spotted Woodpecker 2 in Orchard.

Also a chap told me he'd seen 2 Wheatears in F14. Only one of the only fields I missed...typical.

This afternoon from 14:10 not much about at all but I did see a large flock of about 100 Fieldfare (as well as an equal amount of Starling) leave and then return to F11 stuble field.
Once I erected my scope to do a count I couldn't see them at all,even though I knew where they landed and also looked from two sides of the field .
A Kestrel was also hunting nearby.

New Years Day wander in sunshine, for once!

Flock of about 30 Yellowhammers in stubble and trees F2

About 12 Grey Partridge - F5

Large flock Redwings 50+ - F2

2 Marsh Harriers together, flying South over F6 (they weren't Buzzards!)

Long-Tailed Tits - several flocks

Goldcrest 

Nuthatch

Chaffinches etc

Another late post -
Friday 24.11.23 from 2.15pm.
Field 11/12 (the carrot field, with the 2 pylons close together).
Stonechat - 2 m+ f together.
Goldfinch - 10 feeding along F12 margin and the pathway.
Pinkfooted geese - c160 flying N to S and dropping down to land in the distance.
Also c 60 - flying S to N dropping down into similar area , probably Warburton/Carrington .
Elsewhere -
Kestrel - 2 hunting in different areas.

F13 farmer ploughing field and no Stonechat seen on f12/13 margin but Harris Hawk seen flying low hunting over in F12.

27th April - 12.20 onwards

Gadwall on Shell pond

Field 10 was quite productive having been recently ploughed by the looks of it and had

1 Wheatear
1 Whinchat
2 Grey Partridge
3 Lapwing
3 of 4 Yellowhammer feeding on the ground and back and forth from the trees/telephone wire

Male Mallard sat in the middle of field 12 for reasons of his own.

Northern fields. Path from Isherwood Rd butty van > horse paddocks > beyond Sale Sharks (off the field numbers map)

Wheatear 4. 1 in field next to Isherwood Rd opposite new housing, 1 in field next to Carrington Rd/Sale Sharks and 2 the next field in (with the pylon).

Wheatear - 8 ( which is now 50% ploughed , and I saw the plough returning from working other fields later).
Mistle thrush - 2.

Chiffchaff - 1 seen + 1 heard.
Blackcap - 1 seen + 2 heard.
Jay - 1.
Bullfinch - 2.
Buzzard - 1.
