Pair of Grey Partridge in f31 this morning

Early afternoon walk today-

2x Whimbrel still in f8, 2x Ringed plover in f1, 2x Whitethroat singing, 1x Yellow wagtail with 2x pied in f12, 2x Wheatear f12, 7x Swallow, 4x Blackcap, 3x Willow warbler, 2x Chiffchaff, 1x Raven and 5x Grey partridge (3 f10, 2 f4)

Isherwood Road along fenceline to F1 then return along main West/East track.

Wheatear- 6+ Distant F12 in ploughed area.
Lesser Redpoll- 1 over.
Yellowhammer- 1 male.
Whitethroat- 9 singing.
Willow Warbler- 1 singing.
Blackcap- 4 singing.
Chiffchaff- 4 singing.
Skylark- 6 singing.
Lapwing- 6
Grey Partridge- 1 F13.

Male Whinchat present in f4 on Monday afternoon, sorry for late report and bad photo

Not disputing the sightings Pete as I am aware other people have missed the wheatears and am totally aware there is a huge camber in this field. However the all the deep ruts have now been removed making it less attractive to migrants and that whatever has been planted is likely to grow quickly judged by adjacent fields. 

For anyone visiting f4 to check for migrants be warned that it has been tilled and seeded today and if its anything like f11/13 will be covered in green vegetation within days. As I had been to Shell Pool reserve this morning I quickly checked the area at 11.30 and there were no birds on. 

Desperately need more fields ploughed quickly!

A wander down Brookheys Road yesterday at circa 5pm produced three Mandarin, first a male flew between the two coverts towards the brook and then a pair flew around F32.
A Ring-necked Parakeet was vocal in Hogswood Covert.

Highlights of a wander around the Brookheys Covert / Dark Lane area this afternoon.

Little Egret - 1 in the brook by Brookheys Farm. (And briefly in the field; see photo attached.)
Peregrine - 1 on pylon beyond the farm. (Too distant for a photo.)
Pink-footed Goose - 44 over, heading NW
Lapwing - 41 landed briefly, before moving SW

Plus the usual supporting cast, including about 40 Fieldfare. (My first of the year.)

I think that should be Pink-feet Geese.

1.30 p.m. Nothing for an hour. Then in F4, 2 x Kestrel sitting together on the Hay bale in the field, 1 x Mistle Thrush, 1 x Buzzard, and a Mute Swan approached from F13 and completed a very graceful complete circle of F4 before flying south. 5 x Grey Partridge huddled together in F12 which then flew off south to the next field.

Two noisy Raven on the pylon by Sale Sharks training ground off Carrington Lane mid-morning today.

Grasshopper Warbler reeling from the ditch by the road between f22 and f23. Ie the tarmac road from mufc to Sinderland Road. C. 5pm.
