Tom,

From the description forwarded to me from Brian I presume its an adult, as the lady reported seing the red tail/rump. I have the falconers details documented at work, but I'm still off with flu, so I'll contact him s soon as I'm back. If by chance I can get more info sooner I'll add to this page.

I also wondered if that brief flight view in poor light we had of a buzzard the other day may have been it, so I'd like to see it as well, before the falconer coaxes it back.

I'm also to keen to ask if he lost a Harris Hawk a few years ago, as we used to get regular sighings ( even over my mums house in Stretford ), though that's not been seen for a few years now.

Pete

Alright Pete,

Did the falconer say what age/colour morph the bird was? I wonder if some of my Buzzard sightings have been of this bird?!

I've just received a call from Brian Hilton (who received a call form somebody else) reporting a sighting of a Red-tailed Hawk, with woodpigeon prey item, around the 12th or 13th green at Sale golf course on the 13th or 14th December. I think it was viewed form the end of Fairy Lane, Northendon.

I recall a falconer from the Sale Moor area reporting a lost Red-tailed Hawk to a member of staff at Chorlton Water Park on about the 9th September. Although the falconer has remained optimistic about his bird still being in the area, he has apparently recently been shooting woodpigeons at Kenworthy Woods to place as a bait lure ( wardens have spoken to him about this ), this is the first positive sighting that I know of. Apparently the golfers knew of it's presence all the time !.
