Winter flocks of Lapwing and/or Golden Plover

The BTO is running a survey of wintering Lapwing & Golden Plover from October 2006 'til end of February 2007. We have organised counters for the Top Ten sites in the Manchester region and a number of randomly chosen sites (thanks to all who are helping with this). In addition, we will include all the plover data from the monthly WeBS counts.

I have noted several reports of big flocks on the forum recently. There seems to have been an influx of Lapwings as the weather has got colder. If you see a flock of over 100 of either species, please could you enter details onto the BTO website?

Go to the home page www.bto.org and you'll see a link to the Wintering Plover Survey reporting form.

Thanks, Steve
