RE: Ashworth Moor Resr 29th Oct

I wonder if the 8 Whoopers were the same as 11 at Pennington Flash reported flying E at 0800, of which 2 lingered on the water...

8 Whooper Swans (found by Dave Winnard) including two juvs were on the reservoir from at least 11:00 hrs. They took flight south-west at 16:55 hrs, then flew back over the resr calling, headed east and then returned at 17:10 hrs landing on the water. They are presumably going to roost overnight.

Two Short-eared Owls were hunting - one over the fields to the east of Ashworth Road (a dark bird) and one to the south-west of the resr.

54 Goosander flew into roost between 15:45 and 17:10 hrs. All red heads.
