Red-necked Grebe still there this morning (Fri 4th) - now pretty much in breeding plumage, the neck is much redder than the photos from 26th March - good views from the south shore past the sailing club until a windsurfer scared it off towards the other end

Back on my old East Lancs stomping ground this mornin. Parked up at the northern end of the reservoir and walked down the western side as far as the sailing club, then walked back the same way. Sunny, light winds, 11-14*c.
The Red-necked Grebe, present since 28 February was in the shallows in front of the sailing club and obviously fairly close in. Its reasonable to assume that this is the bird previously at Leeshaw Reservoir, not too far away, just over the West Yorkshire border.
Red-necked grebe still present this afternoon & showing well at the far east end. Also.. 4 great crested grebes 1 cormorant 1 lesser-black backed gull 1 common gull 1 lapwing over Curlew heard
